Betty was trained in modern dance, but loved all forms of dancing.
Upon arrival in Hawaii in August 1962, she accepted
her ex-sister-in-law's offer to teach her the hula.
Here are a few photos of her very early efforts, what she termed,
"Making an attempt to learn the hula."
(Betty's nickname was AquaBetty - she adored the color aqua.)
All photos, except the last, were taken at Sunset Beach on Oahu's
north shore, not far from the Banzai Pipeline and Waimea Bay.
